How it works

From dial to dialogue.

The exact workflow depends on agency configuration. This page separates the standard call path from policy choices and network-dependent behavior.

The standard five-step call flow

01

Dial

An officer or responder starts #919 from a telephone number registered to the agency.

02

Authenticate

The configured workflow verifies the registered phone and any required agency or user credentials.

03

Select language

The caller identifies the language by voice or keypad and confirms the intended service path.

04

Translate or escalate

EMT919 interprets each turn while preserving speaker roles, with live-interpreter escalation where configured or required.

05

Reference record

The configured interaction record can include a reference number, responder identity, timestamp, duration, language, and service disposition.

Transcript: The complete spoken content appears above. A real session may differ by language, carrier conditions, background noise, service mode, and agency configuration.

Language selection and timing

The caller identifies the language or begins the configured interaction. EMT919 supports 31+ AI languages and can route hundreds more through a configured live-interpreter service. EMT919 does not publish a fixed response-latency figure. Connection and response time vary with carrier and network conditions, language, routing mode, audio quality, and live-interpreter availability.

Review language coverage

Live-interpreter boundary

AI-first mode is intended to begin communication quickly. It does not eliminate professional interpreters. Agencies may choose live-interpreter-only routing, and policy should require a qualified live interpreter for legal, medical, disciplinary, or other high-stakes communications whenever appropriate.

If the call disconnects

The active session ends. The responder can call again through the authorized workflow or use the agency’s alternate interpreter path. Session continuity and record availability may depend on where the interruption occurred.
